This trout, native to Europe and Asia, is the leading species in the Dolores River watershed. Wilson peak in the backdrop is part of the Wilson group of mountains whose snow melt feed the Dolores and San Miguel.

Currently, Trout Unlimited is in partnership with the USFS is studying annual temperature swings in a variety of Dolores tributaries on corresponding elevation bands in an effort to track climate change effects on trout habitat (part of my summer work).
