‘I’D GIVE YOU A KIDNEY’ – Goldenrod (Solidago species) – Kinnikinnick (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi)

Goldenrod has historically been used to control internal and external bleeding earning its nickname ‘wound wort.’ Its powerful diuretic properties have been used to flush out kidneys and the urinary tract. It is also rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Kinnikinnick’s botanical name stems from arctos (bear) and staphyle (bunch of grapes), fitting since bears love snacking on these berries while out on an alpine stroll. Kinnikinnick tea has been traditionally used for kidney and bladder infections, kidney stones, and urinary tract disorders.
