Wy’east (also known as Mt. Hood)
.
The Puyallup tribe says that when Wy’east heard word that his father had bestowed great beauty upon Loowit (St. Helens), he could not help but see for himself. So he journeyed from the South, the land of the Multnomahs, and when he saw Loowit along the Columbia River he instantly fell in love. Also along the River he met his brother Klickitat (Mt. Adams) from the North who fell in love with the beautiful maiden as well.
.
Standing tall above the Columbia River with his head up in pride, Wy’east remains to this day, still within view of Loowit and his brother.
